Motoring Convictions – TS10 is the new SP30 June 16, 2008

We’ve all heard the phrase “brown is the new black” but apply this to car, bike and van insurance and it becomes “TS10 is the new SP30.” What this really means is that there has been a big increase in the number of quotes where drivers have a TS10 conviction according to a respected insurance broker. In fact, their research shows that if TS10 convictions increase at the same rate, it won’t be long before they are more common than the SP30 endorsement.

The explanations of these two driving conviction codes are:

This rise makes sense when you consider the amount of traffic light cameras that are appearing on our roads. Protests about speed cameras seem to have died down over the past year but I suspect the police have found another way to add to this revenue judging by the insurance statistics.

The good news is that insurance companies class both of these convictions as minor driving offences and with some insurers, it does not add anything on to the premium if you only have one of these endorsements on your licence.
